Reboot/Refocus/Reset

Breathing. We all do it, but do we do it well? And why does it matter?

When I take a moment to breathe, I think of the 3Rs - Reboot, Refocus and Reset! Breathing helps us clear out emotional and mental debris. It helps us reevaluate and deal with the stress of the day. We can center ourselves and become present. When we are aware of our breathing, perspective changes and we become more mindful and peaceful.

The fact that we’ve been breathing since day one, you’d think we’d be better at it... but it’s something we need to focus on for our physical and mental health. Improving breathing benefits every part of our health. Not only does proper breathing lower stress and anxiety, but it’s also responsible for providing every cell in our body with the nutrients it needs to run smoothly. Most of us hold our breath without knowing, which is also accompanied with gritting the teeth and jaw. Grinding your teeth or having a firm bite can cause a slew of problems with your muscular comfort. Gritting and grinding your teeth can ultimately cause dental issues in the future, and can cause problematic and frequent tension headaches.

So, how is your breathing? Throughout my day I make an effort to breath in slowly and fill my whole chest cavity with air then release in my exhale. Another great exercise is to breath in completely on a count of 5 and hold your breath on a count of 5 then completely exhale. I actually feel the stress release from my body.

I hope you have a great weekend! Remember, by consciously reminding ourselves to take a break and breathe, a Reboot, Refocus and Reset is always there for you! Just Breathe!
